Hey friends,
How are you? If you've been off for the Easter holidays, I hope you've had a lovely break (and the kids aren't driving you too bananas :)). Hopefully you'll be getting some time in the craft room with the long weekend coming, so it seemed a good time to share some inspiration with you for this month's sketch challenge!
I shared a photo of this card in the previous blog post, but I thought it might be helpful to add a tutorial! I love shaker cards, and they're easier to make than you might think!
This is a big card for me - it's just over 7 x 5", which I don't usually do, but I used a slimline die to create my shaker windows, so I had to go big to accommodate that!
Instructions
-
Die-cut the three windows from pool coloured card stock (using the Slimline Porthole Dies from Time for Tea Designs)
-
Add acetate to the reverse of the panel.
-
Die-cut the porthole windows from silver card, and inlay them into the windows.
-
Add thin strips of foam tape to the reverse of the panel, all around the edges and between the windows, to create three separate sections.
-
To each section, add some aqua coloured sequins.
-
Ink blend some waves on to a card panel the same size as the shaker window panel, using the Making Waves stencil. The ink colours I used were all from Simon Hurley - Minty Fresh, Clear Skies and Remember Me.
-
Remove the release paper from the foam tape, then adhered the wavy panel on top (coloured side down) to trap in the sequins.
-
Add the shaker panel to a card blank.
-
Add three critters from the Beach Buds stamp set to the front of the windows.
-
For the sentiment, trim down a pre-printed sentiments (again from Time for Tea) and add to the card with thin foam tape strips.
